Lydian named "Best Law Firm Real Estate & Construction Law"

at the Trends Legal Awards 2014

Brussels, 19 March 2014 – Wouter Neven, managing partner of Lydian and head of its ‘Real Estate, Environment & Regulatory’ department received the "Best Law Firm: Real Estate & Construction Law” award on behalf of the firm during the Trends Legal Awards 2014. Neven and his team were chosen for the outstanding performances and the successes they had achieved during the past year in a very competitive real estate market. Lydian, founded just 12 years ago, has in a very short time evolved to become one of the leading law firms in the country thanks to its integrated approach, sharp customer focus and strong positioning in the Belgian market. The ‘Real Estate, Environment & Regulatory’ team bears witness to the success of the integrated model through which Lydian makes a difference to its clientele.

The title "Best Law Firm: Real Estate & Construction Law” is awarded to the firm that has best distinguished itself in the Belgian property sector during the past year.

The jury chose the fifteen-member 'Real Estate, Environment & Regulatory' team of Lydian for their knowledge of their cases and for the rapid and pragmatic approach of the firm. According to the jury Lydian combines the sophisticated approach of an established law firm with a strong customer orientation, tailored to both large structures and to real estate professionals and SMEs for whom real estate forms part of their broader asset base.

The jury also emphasized the importance of quality advice for a demanding clientele for which Lydian offers advice on legal issues, approached from different areas of expertise regarding environmental regulations, agreements, leases, PPS, spatial planning, urban development, procurement, litigation, finance and transactions. The jury’s report goes on to state that the firm (Lydian) distinguishes itself with strong communication and a practical approach that dares to deviate from the beaten track. Trends Legal Awards are granted annually by a jury of eminent lawyers and expert observers.

The jury for the "Best Law Firm: Real Estate & Construction Law" award was chaired by leading real estate journalist, Hans Brockmans of Trends and also comprised Marie Beeckman of Tuc Rail, notary Pierre Nicaise, Lorette Rousseau of the FRNB, Marc Van Severen of Cofra Brussels - C&A Belgium and Roeland Verhille of Eternit.
